The first day of the walk was unexpected. Our group started relatively early but we had to learn how to interpret directions while looking for a red arrows and learning how each of us navigate. It turns out our team is pretty collaborative. Navigation was challenging but with a number of discussions we found our way with segments of hiking that allowed congenial topics of sharing while finding our own strides. Pauses of listening to the song of a cuckoo or to see hares scamper before us.

With our starts and stops we wound down like clocks and by the end, we are very tired. A mix of paved roads and paths today was long but views were lovely.

We crossed the Hungarian border in to Austria at the path for the iron curtain. Market by a cross calling every Christian to pursue freedom. We need that today more than ever.

Tonight we will sleep in yurts, poised in front of a green quilt of fields. Tomorrow brings a new challenge and I’ll keep posting here.
