Roses, Fire and Borders. Today was another lengthy day. Yesterday we completed 24 km ( 15.75 miles) and today 25.3 km (17 miles). The paths are a mix of paved bike paths, park dirt paths, and in town streets. The flat streets fatigue us the most!

Today was a Catholic holiday in Austria. On this day they celebrate Corpus Christi, the body of Christ This, the celebration of the patron saints of firemen and the newest confirmation of some young ladies were a lovely encounter. Up until we came across the parade, the streets were empty.

We enjoyed watching the fireman’s band and towns people march through the street, rose petals scattered as they went.
Finally we continued on our way back across the Austrian-Hungarian border.
We got a bit lost on this route and ended up whacking our way through the woods to emerge in a farmers field. The wheat waved us on to Koszeg were we sleep tonight.
While we’ve done well, the heat has taken a bit from us and we’re going to do a half day hike tomorrow. More to come tomorrow.
