A Ford, a Trabant, and a Taxi
Today was a 27 km (17 mile) hike in 81 degree weather. We left our great hostess, Janet and her helper, Anna, to continue on our way.
Our day sent us down small roads and in to the woods where we faced a small stream to cross. Off with the shoes and socks to wade cautiously in slippery muddy silt.
Down the lane and a momentary pause at the town’s memorial to their fallen hero’s where we found a vanishing relic of East German automotive production – a Trabant. These cars are basic two stoke engines with bodies shaped from paper mache’ and the surface roughness of a street.

We continued to walk through mud and along logging roads, playing a game of “what is that paw print”? All unconfirmed but entertaining none the less.

We finished our day a bit early at a lake to cool our feet and decided to take a taxi to our hostel to save Jame’s sore feet.
tomorrow is a decision day for us as James need some recovery time and the 89 percent humidity is really making this a bit harder than expected.
