Dig, Duty and Devotion
A peerless blue sky today in Zagreb. The ringing of the Cathedral bells compelled us up the street. Lured us. Beckoned.
The church was a mighty beauty that was close to restoration. It makes one understand how big a role it played in the lives of the town through centuries. Today there was a procession in to the church, a fascinating view of yesteryear traditions juxtaposed with today’s rituals.

we enjoyed watching the many people swirling through the church courtyard.
Eventually the crowds petered out to a calm murmur as the sun grew hotter.

We meandered through the Sunday market. Paying for fresh strawberries and cherries, so luxuriously ripe.
Down from to upper town we went to the Museum of Archeology. We were pleasantly surprised and not a little envious. While not a large museum, it had whole artifacts, beautifully preserved.

Local artifacts from the stone, bronze and iron ages as well as Egypt. Well worth the visit.
Tomorrow we continue on our way. We go by train toward Lake Bled in Slovenia and then to a hostel on a nearby lake, Lake Bohinj in Slovenia for two days.
So what about the hike? Well we (I) will get back on the trail on Wednesday in Ljubljana. James will escort us along the path but not likely to get back on it. Luckily this part of Slovenia is cooler which. We need.
