Spelunk, Harrow and Restore

Olm is a creature that lives in caves. The Postojnska Park cave is home to the Olm as well as the longest cave system (24,340 m) in Slovenia. We visited the caves which have been active for tours since 1818. And really enjoyed this diversion.

I joined the rest of the May 30 walkers at a lovely pub for lunch. We walked over farming roads. Farmers with their tractors and harrows were in the fields to prepare them for the next crop. They are very busy cutting patterns on in the fields with their implements.

Through the villages we came. Each village with a shrine of blessing and church. Old churches and some unused churches and others in restoration. The lovely little church next door was being treated to tromp-l’oeil marble restoration by an artist. She uses pigments true to the original era and paints the old or damaged surfaces to make them live again.

A good hike today above and below ground covering about 24 km.
