First step, last step, step forward, step backward. This journey is culminating in thousands of steps which summarize to a moment. That moment will be tomorrow at Santiago de Compostela.
I’m not looking for an “ah ha” revelation. I hope for a moment of joy in knowing I was brave enough to complete this journey through. It wasn’t scary except for my own fears. So the bravery was for me.
I think steps are what we all do every day. I’m grateful to have the feet that have taken me so far through life and its experiences. Through my hiking experiences I’ve learned to take care of my feet. They are my best transport for every adventure.
I work to keep blisters at bay with anti chafe cream like Glide. I invest in good socks like Wright Socks or Injinji toe socks. My shoes are meant for strenuous efforts. I have Oboz hikers that are 1 size larger (for foot swelling on a long hike). My Tevas hiking sandals are my alternatives for short walk hikes and my end of the day wear. I try to use tape to tape toes together or keep rubbing of hot spots to a minimum. See my earlier blog of taking care of your feet.
So my many steps have brought me here, and then I will take a last step into Santiago, after which I will take a new first step for my next adventure.
