My love affair with glass started in 1989 when I moved to Seattle. There I saw Dale Chihuly’s glass installation at Seattle Art Museum and was hooked by the intensity of color, movement and design. While working in Information Technology, I pursued my glass passion at the Pilchuck School of Glass in Stanwood, Washington and at the Pratt Arts Center in Downtown Seattle. I was fortunate enough to learn from Greg Deitrich about engraving and coldwork, Nancy Callan for cane work, Cappy Thompson for Grisaille painting on glass and many other excellent teachers and glassblowers.
I have been fortunate to have lived in Seattle where so much of the blown glass movement started. With its rich artistic resources and talent.
In 2017 I moved to Bend, Oregon and my focus changed from blown glass to fused. Starting with a small kiln that came to me through a friend, I embarked on learning all I could about fused glass, bringing to bear the experience accrued in hot shops in Seattle.
Most recently I’ve begun to work in kilnformed glass of Pate de Verre, or glass paste. This medium allows a flexibility to develop statement pieces of art in addition to classical glass art pieces. I am working to incorporate the beauty of glass and design art that will give pause for thought. You will find variety and breadth in my art and methods, and I look forward to sharing my art with you.
