Spires, shires, desires
Our night at the hostel was interesting. The energy of 30 plus teenagers pulsed in the twilight to remind us about the joy in movement laughter and companionship. We had time to contemplate that while we each tried to ignore our disappointment in the limited food for dinner. The hikers hunger has come to roost.
This morning our hiking cohort moved on without James and I and without additional nourishment. We’d meet up later in the day in Lenti.
James and I proceeded with transport to Lenti along bouncing roads. The church spires in each town poked their steeples above the trees to point the way.
Quiet little towns in the morning light, poised for for the slow passing of time. Old house, new house, droopy house, cheery house. Each a view of Hungary from hard times to new.

James and I will weave our way along the hiking route with detours. We are evaluating options. The desire is to rest up, see a bit more of the country and intersect with the cohorts’ trek. And if possible, jump back in to the hike.
Our group had a rough day, more high humidity, , hot temperatures, tall grasses and rough fields. They made it though. Their reward was a great dinner!
